At our tour ti Amsterdam, we stayed at a fantastic and beautiful designhotel at the canals, in the Prinsengracht area. It has a great and central location, still with a cosy and quite atmosphere in the street. You are within walkingdistance for attractions, shops and restaurants.
The interior of the hotel is unique, It a nice new stylish hotel…it’s clean and well-appointed, with a very comfortable bed. There is no formal front desk at this hotel, they utilize three open round tables in the lobby, with ipads and laptops. The staff provides the most friendly service and goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. They are extremely efficient and are always attentive. We had a few issues regarding our check-in, but it was handled quick and very professional.
The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and designed with all of the facilities that you will love – your own Nespresso coffee maker, a docking station for your iPod (home from home music), so that when you are enveloped by the high-backed chair inside the window, you can feel like you are in heaven as you watch the world go by on the canal outside. Step through a mirrored doorway into the “wet-room” and let your cares slip away under the waterfall shower. Even the location of the washstand is unique! The library (off the lobby) is well stocked and the presence of art around the hotel, especially the video art in the corridors and the library makes the hotel very special indeed.
The hotel is perfect, if you like to stay in something different and with a modern design. This is an art focused hotel so lots of quirky features throughout including an odd decoration above the bed! The views to the canal are breathtaking, and you can spend a lot of time, just looking at the life in the canals, watching life in Amsterdam go by in front of your room.
A nice detail is that shampoo and soap is ecofriendly and not tested on animals.
Due to the hotel being quite new, there are a some place for improvement. The hotel opened in the fall 2012. But we are convinced that the staff will figure these improvements out in notime. So if your want to get a great experience, with a modern touch, do not hesitate to book your next stay in Amsterdam at the Andaz Hotel – I promise your that you won’t regret it. 🙂
