We have an advice for getting a great rush, while enjoying breathtaking views.
When we were in Bangkok, we spend a few nights on visiting some of all the fantastic roof-top-bars that the city offers, and in our opinion there are two places any traveller must visit.
At the very top of the State Tower, the luxury hotel Lebua has the most classy and stylish bar in Bangkok. Placed on the 63rd floor at The Dome at Lebua this Sky Bar i the world’s highest open air bar, with some fantastic views over the city and the river. The bar provides some great cocktails in surroundings that you will never forget.
There are a few things you need to know, first of all remember that this is quite a fashionable place, so in order to enter the bar, you must dress according to their dress code. Guys has to long trousers and shoes – women can of cause wear design sadals. So don’t show up in flip-flop and wife-beater – unless you want to stay at the ground floor. Second – this being a world class attraction – the prices is a bit higher that other bars. Besides visiting the bar – you can book a table at the restaurant Sirocco, and have your dinner at the tables right next to the bar. There are no seatings possible at the bar outside.
The other roof bar, that you also must visit is at Banyan Tree Hotel – the Vertigo and Moon Bar. Here it is possible to get a table, and sit down while having a drink or two, which makes the bar a bit more cosy and relaxing than Sky Bar.
The Vertigo is located at 61. floor and does also have a strict dress-code. So dress up nice before you go there. The prices is a little lower than the Sky Bar, but the cocktails is also a little less refined. Never the less, the Vertigo was a great experience for us, and we had some fantastic views over the city. We just had a cocktail at the bar, but it is also possible to enjoy your dinner, or some snacks in this great setting.
Vertigo and Moon Bar
If you want to dine on top of the city, remember to book your table in advance, because these places are well visited. Please note that the bars will be closed if the weather is not good enough.
Happy traveling and cheers from travellersplanet…
