On the eastcost, and 15 minute drive from Phuket Town, you will find the small island Siray, which you enter by a bridge at the harbor. On this small Island is a few resorts, one of which is the The Nchantra Pool Suite Residences – a new 5 Star pearl that you will not regret visiting.
Originally build as a condominium – the resort offers 42 luxurius villas, with oceanview, roof top terrasses, private pool or right on the beachfront. All villas have been made with kitchen, so if you want to cook for yourself, that is also possible. The resort is quite new, it opened in october 2012 for its first high season, so we went from Bangkok towards Phuket in July 2013, hoping to find a place to tell our followers about. It is always exciting to visit new resorts, which you can’t find a lot of reviews on from other travellers. We stayed in a beachfront, two bedroom villa, with rooftop terrace and a private saltwater private pool. Walk 20 steps from the beachfront villa, and we were standing with our feet in the Andaman sea.All of the above is also possible to find at other resorts, so what made The Nchantra special? There are three main reasons.
First of all the location – the tranquility of this place is amazing due to the location. Situated in a small bay, where a local businessman and moviedirector has chosen to build their private villas, The Nchantra offers peace and quite, as we have never seen before on Phuket. We don’t get stressed out from a lot of people on the beach, who fightes over the sun chairs, we could grab each others hand and take a walk along the beach, and only meet the local fishermen.
Second of all is the atmosphere. The staff and manager really did their very best, to make our stay claming and relaxing. They listen and somehow it made us get a sense of home there. During our stay, we used the Shuttle service quite a lot, driving us around nice and easy, and always on time. Checking in and out of the resort was easy, swift and the front desk manager also provided us with great advice for where to eat with the locals in Phuket Town.
Third reason is the luxurious villas, build in a contemporary style, mixed with a touch of classic thai-detailling. We have stayed at quite a big amount of 5 star resorts over the years, and The Nchantra has a high standard for the interior and decor. Of course, it is also a brand new resort, so you expect the buildings to be “top of the line”. You will not be disappointed, because here the pictures you see actually shows you what you get.
The Nchantra has a small restaurant, The Bay, where we had breakfast and dinner. The food is good, rich in taste and presented very well. The menus could be a little more developed – but the manager Tony told us that this is one of the things they are focusing on in the future. The staff in the restaurant is, as you often experience in Thailand, a little over attentive and very eager to provide the best service. Something the management of the resort is trying to optimize every day, with training of the staff, to get the best balance between guests and staff.
As the above indicates, The Nchantra is a true “must-stay”, if you are looking for show thing luxurious away from all the noise of the traditional Phuket. If you want to explore something different, visit Phuket Town and see the parts of the island which is not the normal tourist attractions. The Nchantra is a place to relax, enjoy the small details, traditional thaifood and get a different angle on the thai tourism. This resort is for travellers like ourselves, who enjoy staying in a beautiful spot and enjoy stuff like the saltwater pool, the view over the water and the sense we got in our minds after a few days here.
If you prefer to sit at the pool-bar during the day, have your dinner at the big buffet, and slender down Bangla Road in the evening, The Nchantra is not the right place for you. We think you will find it too remote, too quite and perhaps also to personal.
During our stay, we had a chance to speak with the British General Manager Tony, and hear about some of the future plans for the resort. The management pays attention to the details, and wishes to develop The Nchantra constantly. We are quite sure, that the afford and work put in to the resort, it will grow to be even better than now.
Of course we had a few problems during our stay, fx the jacuzzi didn’t work the first night we where to use it. But because it is handled in such a positive, professional and kind way, you tend to quickly forget the problem and just find other things to do. All resorts have small problems, but the thing that tell us the most about a resort, it not the problems itself, but the way they are handled by the staff.
