A review of The Bryant Park Hotel – NYC…
After our stay at Conrad, we urged for something classy, sexy and with a proper level of luxury. So when the cap-driver headed towards Bryant Park in Midtown NYC, we were pretty excited to see what we was going to meet. The Bryant Park hotel opened in 2001 as a designer luxury hotel, and has since that been rewarded several times as “Best Place to stay”, “Most Romantic Hotel”, “Trendiest Hotel in NYC” etc.
The Hotel is located in a landmark skyscraper original known a The American Radiator Building, build in 1924 in a combination of Gothic and modern styles, a Gothic Art Deco. Black bricks and gold detailing on the top, makes this building stand out between the others. So when you drop your jaw, standing in Bryant Park and looking for which building is hosting the hotel, you have found it! Remember that you are just a few steps away from the New York Public Library.
When we arrived, the suitcases was quickly picked up from the trunk and in a matter of seconds, we were ready to check in. At the front desk were met with huge smiles and very positive minds, and a few minutes we later we very all good, and ready to go to our room. The front desk personnel gave us all the important information about the hotel and the area of the city. After a little problems with the room that we booked, which the front desk handled perfectly, we could relax and enjoy the junior suite.
The rooms are very big, comfy and have got everything you need. Nice bathroom, with shower and tup, sofa and a nice view over Bryant Park. The design and decor of the rooms is quite mainstream and simple, but gives a nice feel of quality. To be completely honest, the design of the hotel is focused on the lobby and entrance, there is nothing wrong with the rest, don’t get us wrong. But it is just very simple and nothing flashy of over designed.
In the basement, entered via the lobby you find the Cellar Bar, with can be anything in between a quick drink in the afternoon, to a busy late night party, full of happy people.
The lobby area has decor in cool black and red colors, and right besides the entrance you find the Koi restaurant, on which we will write a separate piece.
So – what is the special thing about Bryant Park Hotel? Is it the beautiful old building, the bar, the super central location or the rooms? Well, they all have a small part in the big picture, but there is one thing making this one of the most memorable hotels we visited in NYC – the staff! Yes – the people how meet and greet you, and does their best to meet your demands at all times. Fx – in our room was a cooled bottle of Prosecco and a personal card for us. You might think it is a small thing, but remember that beauty is in the details, and this staff sure knows to refine the details. Every time you walked up to the desk, called from the room etc, you where met with a positive mind and big smiles, and it just makes you feel more welcome, like your own home.
We asked the hotel to book some tables for us and some other friends in NYC, to find some other specific places that wanted to see etc, and it was handled perfect by the event manager Sarah Mindlin, who had a big part in making our stay ekstra special and comfortable. This shows exactly how important the right persons is, and why hotels like Conrad New York, just fail in our opinion.
So if you want to stay in midtown, close to everything and in a place that knows how to treat guests with class, aim for some nights at the Bryant Park Hotel. You will never regret it… and remember to give the staff our best regards – we are sure they are still setting the standard very high.
