Just opposite the Flatiron Building you have Madison Square Park, a public park of NYC. When you hear it, you think of Madison Square Garden, which no longer is anyplace nearby. Originally the Madison Square Garden was located just northeast of the park for 47 years, until 1925. The park was renovated in 2001 and there is a public-private partnership formed to watch over the new park, and its magnificence. Surrounding the the park is some beautiful buildings like the Met Live Tower, the Toy Center, Appellate Division Courthouse etc. So you can enjoy the park and the surroundings while chilling here, and finish off with a burger at the Shake Shack in the park. The park is venue for a lot of different art installations, and therefore there is always something different to see and experience, at this quite overseen park of NYC.
It the part towards 5 th avenue, the is a dedicated to the dogs of NYC, where it is possible to let you dog of the leash and let it enjoy the company of other dogs. Even a separated area for small dogs. We where very impressed, and as dog owners ourselves, we think of copying the idea to our own area, where we live in Copenhagen. And being away from our own dog for several days, we enjoyed to see the dog running around, having fun.
