Being back in Europa at the moment, we decided to visit yet another of the great restaurants we have in Copenhagen, to celebrate Katja’s birthday. As you might know, Denmark is world famous for our top of the line restaurants, and a few weeks ago Noma once again received the reward of being the best restaurant in the world. As you also might know, we are not really into these places, where you go to be seen and not to be served. We try to find something more special and one of a kind, or at least of a small bunch.
We arrived at the choise of the night, Fudaraku, Karma Sushi Flagship Copenhagen and got comfortable in the cosy and classy room, which a lovely decor, we where served a little champagne and a snack on the house, before heading into the vast menu laying ahead of us.
Karma Sushi has 5 different restaurants and their flagship is placed near Nyhavn in the center of Copenhagen.
Fudaraku is a japanese island paradise, and it also means The Clean Country, which goes good with the menu. Simple high quality dishes is served in a variety of different setups.
In general there is some snacks, starters, a little a la carte, and of course the 3 menus; small with 8 servings, medium with 10 servings and large with 13 servings. As the hardcore sushi-junkies we are, Jeppe had decided that only one thing was good enough – the 13 different servings – what a vice man 🙂
The menu came in 6 different parts:
- part – Caviar on japanese blinis, Ama Ebi and Porched egg with king crab
- part – A variety of sashimi with salmon, tuna, hamachi and shrimps
- part – A variety of Nigiri with salmon, tuna, hamachi and shrimps, then sea bass, makis and king crab with caramel
- part – Scallops, salmon tempura and shrimp tempura
- part – Teriyaki fatty beef with foie gras
- part – Desserts of your own choise
To illustrate haw simple the menu is, we have chosen just to mention the main ingredient of each serving, but a the pictures will tell you, that there is much more to this secret of this place. Every single dish was very well prepared, well balanced in taste and texture and served with a finesse worthy of a great place like this.
As a little extra we also got the Karma Sizzling Sashimi with even more salmon, truffle and citrus – a great little dish.
So is Fudaraku a place you should visit, during a stay in Copenhagen, even though is not world famous, like some of the other places we could mention here? Certainly! This places offers very high quality food, at some very reasonable prices, with a eye on every little detail. The quality of the food is comparable with Umami and the other top of the shelf sushi places in Copenhagen. Furthermore the service makes this good restaurant become even better.
Fudaraku get the warmest recommendations from TravellersPlanet – and we hope that you will one day visit for a bite of the fabulous fish.
