Thai cuisine and restaurants are among some of the best in the world, and we love the diversity and variety in Bangkok. But if you are urging for a speciel experience, where you can see how well the Thai’s can set up themes both in hotels, spas and restaurants. L’Appart is no exception, because as you walk out of the elevators on the top floor of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, you step right in to a different world. L’Appart Restaurant Bangkok is inspired by the designs of Baron Haussmann, the creative force behind the most influential architectural style of 19th century Paris. the Intimate French Restaurant and the bar and lounge is properly of of a kind in Bangkok, and should be a destination for anyone how loves french cuisine, wines and great services. The design is made to give you the illustration that you are visiting a rich uncle’s apartment in Paris, and you have all the different rooms of a traditional restaurant here, just changes a bit, so you can enjoy your dinner here. It feels like your are hanging out in an luxurious apartment with chic friends and living the cosy lifestyle with stunning views over Bangkok center.
One thing is th decor, design and idea – another story is the food – but in the end this might be the main reason that you go out for dinner. And here, the food is just as fabulous as the location, view and concept of the restaurant. We was very positively greeted in when we arrived for the last dinner we where having in Bangkok this time, and quickly guided to our table in the library. Great spot, with a super view over the skyline of Bangkok. We really liked that the layout is very spacious and you have a lot of space around you, so you are sitting more private that most places. As usual, we started out with a few cocktails and a slice of the heavenly bread served.
As our starters we chose Tuna Tartare and Foie Gras Raviole, a spicy tartare with both something for the eyes and tastebuds as the spicy guacamole cream and the texture of the tuna was perfectly balanced. The Raviole had a strong and rich Foie Gras taste and was also perfectly cooked.
As the main courses, we had the Lamb Shank Comfit & Hookaido Scallops – and again was it impressive to enjoy the tenderness and texture. You can feel that the chef has a lot of focus on providing great ingredients, and this is the main key to succes for any restaurant.
As desserts we had a few petite fours and a scoop of Mango Ice-cream, before we where rushing down in a cap, to make our way to the airport, where the flight back to Denmark was waiting for us to board. Happy after a great dinner in fantastic surroundings, the thought of returning to Denmark, was not as bad as a few hours before. L’Appart Bangkok is a place that you should put on your to do list, along with the other great advice we have for Bangkok. Bon Appetite…
