In the heart of the Singapore Marina Center, the traditional luxury hotel by Mandarin Oriental, is located with breathtaking views of the harbour, the business district and Marina Bay Sands. From Changi airport it was only a short 20 minute drive, before we arrived, ready for our review of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. The location of the hotel, was the first thing we noticed as we where arriving. Just in the very center of the city, close to shopping, the harbour, Singapore Flyver and everything else you need, The Mandarin Oriental has a perfect setting for you stay. As we entered the hotel, the next thing that caught the eye, is the impressive design of the lobby area. The lobby is opned up, all the way to the top floor, and the structure of the lifts becomes a sculpture.
After a quick and easy check-in, we where on our way to the room together with the representative from Mandarin Oriental. As the door opened, we walked into a nice big room, typical Mandarin Oriental style, classic luxury with everything you need. But honestly, we didn’t look a the room at all, because another thing took over our attention right away. Because the views over the harbour is amazing – and that is one of the best factors of the hotel – the location is stunning and close to perfect for a visit to Singapore.
When we got the attention back to the room and the decor, we got that “Mandarin-feel” as we know very well. Luxurious materiales and furniture, and great space for your luggage. The bathroom was also very spacious with both shower and bathtub.
As most 5 star hotels we visit, Mandarin Oriental Singapore has everything you need in a luxury hotel. Lovely rooms and suites with the stunning views, 5 restaurants, 2 lounges, wellness choices like a fully equipped fitnesscenter, a twin lane swimming poll and of course The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Singapore, a harmonious place of well-being reaching far beyond the traditional spa experience. Located close to the pool area, the spas design draws inspiration from Singapores rich past to create a tranquil sanctuary.
During our stay, we had the pleasure to dine at Melt – The World Cafe twice for our breakfast. The buffet is not just a buffet – it is a huge mixture of a lot of different small dishes. The quality of the food is very high, and the diversity of the restaurant makes a lot of the locals visit Melt when there is something to celebrate. That is alway a great sign, because the locals typical knows what to choose, when they want to go out. One of the days we where here, it is a Singaporean holiday, and Melt was packed so much that we had to stay in line just to get a table. This was a little stresfull, but the next day everything was back to normal, and our breakfast was enjoyed in perfect atmosphere and calmness. The service and attentiveness of the staff was very impressive and give that extra angle, every 5 star hotel needs to have.
All in all Mandarin Oriental Singapore is a very recommendable hotel, and the location makes a obvious choice for a great experience in the central parts of Singapore. A 5 minute walk will tak you to Marina Bay Sands, the harbour or the Singapore Flyer – what is not to like about the Mandarin Oriental Singapore.
