If you have been following us for quite a while, you will know that snorkeling is something we enjoy very much. Maldives is one of the best places in the world for snorkeling, and you can meet some of the most impressive creatures of the sea right off the beachside. Snorkeling and diving in Maldives are one of the best experiences you will ever get, and for us, the underwater world is one of the main reasons for having a trip to Maldives. During our time at Coco Bodu Hithi, the resident Marine Biologist Lisa took us for a private snorkeling experience for a few hours. The waters in Maldives are very calm on the inside of the atolls, so snorkeling here is for everyone. We started at a “cleaning station” where the Manta Rays comes to let the smaller fish clean their skin from parasites. A first we didn’t find any Manta Rays but after moving to the other side of the cleaning station we got pretty lucky. Nine Mantas was circulating right below us and seeing these huge animals passing gracious around in the waters.
After spending quite a while together with these beautiful creatures, we went on toward another reef where Lisa had seen sea turtles earlier the same day. So after a short ride on the boat, we jumped back into the water again, and as usual on Maldives, within a few minutes, we met several sea turtles which were searching the reef for food.
