If you have read our review of PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives, you may have noticed that the dining options are many on these two beautiful islands that it is also something out of the extraordinary. This resort is daring to be different in many ways, and regarding food they are no exception. Where else can you find a restaurant in the top of the banyan trees, another is a small piece of Africa, and a third is located 6 meters under the surface of the Indian Ocean? Not to mention the forth on top of the ocean, a long way from the coastline. You get the idea, dining at PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives is worth taking a closer look at. We will here mention some of our favorites from our stay in May 2015.
Here are PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives Dining options:
The Nest is the latest restaurant at PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives and a one-of-a-kind dining concept for the Maldives featuring naturally modern design nestled amongst the Banyan trees in the heart of the jungle. With a diverse menu, Nest offers Asian specialties from Thai to Teppanyaki with fresh, seasonal produce from the Chef’s island garden. All prepared to perfection and served with a welcoming smile. The multi-level treehouse design provides spectacular locations from private pods suspended six metres above the ground to culinary theatrics in small pavilions amongst the trees, all linked by walkways adding a sense of adventure to the jungle experience. The Nest is not only for your taste buds, but also something for the eyes, ears, and mind. We loved the experience at Nest, where we dined on the first night of our stay and tried several fantastic dishes, amongst these was the Balinese Satay Lilit, Lobster Spring Roll, Dry Aged Beef Tenderloin Wok, Tom Yam with Prawns and some fabulous desserts.
The next restaurant that we would like to point out is Tribal. An innovative campfire dining experience where typical tribal charm meets luxury dining with a beautiful and cosy beachside feel. Outdoor grills provide lots of tastes from South America, Africa and Asia with a menu that combines local inspiration and global flair. An exotic al fresco dining stage is set for tribal gatherings with a splash of adventure. Especially the African parts of the menu was fascinating and made us return several times during our stay. At Tribal, you get to taste new things, which you might never have encountered before. And when you are handed the welcome drink, do not hesitate to try it. Boma Charcuterie, Pork Pozole Salad, Big Afrikaaner and Wagyu Beef is some of the dishes you should try here.
Now it is time to look beneath the surface at Subsix. Down here in the surreal beauty of this underwater playground Subsix is a place where you should treat yourself to lunch once in life. Marine adventures set up against the colourful landscape of the Indian Ocean, quite far out in the ocean and six metres below the waterline. From private Champagne breakfasts, intimate subaquatic lunches, wedding blessings to wine tastings, themed evenings and club nights, this unique place offers many possibilities. We had our lunch one day, where the set menu for lunch is the obvious choice. This menu is a lunch with Lobster, Wagyu, and lovely desserts that we enjoyed while staring out the windows at the corals and fish.
Back at the beach, we had a look at another lunch option, where your taste buds can have a party. Dune is a combination of a beach hub bar and daytime restaurant, where stylish poolside lounging is enjoyed with creative deli-style beach snacks, light dishes, sushi, sandwiches, and desserts. As sushi addicts, we ordered the mixed plate of sushi and sashimi along with the rice paper rolls.
Besides these four above, there are other restaurants, which we will return to in other posts. But it is for sure that the dining options on PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives are some of the most diverse we have tried in the Maldives. Maybe not the highest restaurant per guest ratio, but surely very different menus and selections.
Our personal favorite became Tribal after the first time we ate here. The atmosphere is so different compared to what we have seen before, and the african vibe is very strong. Try to get a table out in the remote pavilions, where you privately can relax and enjoy the dinner.
In general, all the different places have excellent menus with a wide variety of dishes, the food is quickly prepared and served by well-spoken and polite staff, who knows what kind of service a guest at a five-star prefers. And if you someday fancy something simple, try to swing by Deli and grab one of the sandwiches. As low-key as it sounds, these sandwiches can be quite a surprise when you get to use to the a la carte lunches and dinners.
PER AQUUM NIYAMA Maldives gets our warmest recommendations on their food selection. Not only for the quality and service, but also for thinking out of the box and creating a dining universe like no other in the Maldives.
