The Philippines has a vast variety of thing to see, and in the area of Coron, some of the best attractions are hidden. Palawan has an imposing and mysterious scenery, which is worthy of a movie. Barracuda and Kayangan Lake Coron Philippines is both embedded between limestone cliffs and on a trip with 8 Days Palawan Experience, we visited these spectacular sites. The Lakes are located close to each other.
Both lakes are fascinating for scuba divers, with layers of fresh and salt water. The waters are crystal clear. The water is from some angles blurry, due to the layers. To access Kayangan lake, it is a short 10 to 15 minutes hike, 25 meters up. Wear some good sandals, and it is very easy. Remember to take a stop at the viewpoint on the top, before descending to Kayangan Lake. To Barracuda Lake, it is just a 10-meter hike.
There is a wooden deck at both lakes where you enter the water. At Kayangan, the deck is far bigger that at Barracuda Lake. The first thing you notice is due to the visibility. You can see every detail. Rock formations, marine life, etc.
When swimming in the lakes, be aware that the buoyancy is low due to the fresh water. The decks can be quite crowded, so if you are comfortable, swim further out into the more open spaces. Enjoy the tranquility of floating in the waters, the limestone cliffs, the blue sky, and the clear water. Barracuda and Kayangan Lake is some of the main attractions in Coron Philippines.
Wonder how Barracuda Lake got its name?
A big skeleton of a Barracuda was found on the bottom, and these fantastic creatures still occupy the lake. They are not harmful, so don’t worry before jumping in.
Kayangan Lake is dubbed as the cleanest lake in Asia.
The lakes is a must see on a one-day tour around Palawan. Make sure to go here as early as possible. Many tourists go to Barracuda and Kayangan lake every day, which could affect your experience.
